The Importance of Inclusivity

Making sure the memory journals were suitable for all children and their families was paramount for me. Raised by a super single parent, I didn't want to be forced to write an irrelevant name in my children's memory books but leaving a gap somehow felt awful.

To all those families who don't fit that nuclear mould, whether you're a solo parent, single parent, same-sex parent, adoptive parent, or a guardian of any kind, it was so important that you felt these books were made for you.

"Parenting is about raising and celebrating the child you have, not the child you thought you'd have. It's about understanding your child is exactly the person they are supposed to be and, if you're lucky, they might be the teacher who turns you into the person you're supposed to be."

The grown up identifies themself as 'Who I am to you' so no need to be the same person filling it out each year and no assumptions at all about how that little one's family is made up.

The Book of You is for everyone celebrating their little one's first birthday.
